"Many people ask me, Dave,' What can I do to keep my car running in good working order?' I often joke with them and ask them if they don't like seeing me. Usually, I recommend the basics...tire pressure, fluid levels, check your oil regularly...but I noticed more and more of my clients simply need to call me instead of bringing their car to my shop for a tune up. So give me a call and we'll evaluate the situation to save you time and money."
You can always ask or call Dave's Cave about what you can do to maintain your vehicle better, but below we have suggested some good sites.
A classic example of unnecessary charges is brakes. Often, people bring in their car to a dealership or shop and complain of squeaking brakes. Sometimes you need to bring it in because your brake pads need replacing. Now the brake manufacturers purposely design the brakes to squeak when they are ready to be changed out. This is to avoid more serious (and expensive) wheel damage. However, when you use your brakes dust can accumulate causing this same noise.
Simply wiping the dust off and spraying it with a special coating takes care of your problem - a quick fix. What some shops and dealerships do is charge you for the diagnostic and service at an exorbitant price for something that is about as simple as changing a flat tire.
